On Libertarians

I must confess, up front, that I come to this subject with a bias; I am heartily tired of hearing various people claim to be “Libertarians”. Such exclamations of political belief are about as meaningful as stating one “believes” in the democratic process while voting to overturn the results of a fair, open and duly certified election. Don’t misunderstand me, the “Libertarian” concept posits a noble ideal and I am all for individual “free will”. But, it espouses several precepts that require “real world” actions on the part of adherents before they can make a creditable claim to be a practitioner of that political philosophy.
